If you try to remember the dream you had last night you may be able to do it… but a lot of people will simply not be able to do it.
Or if you go back even further and try to remember a dream that you had one month, 6 months or even further back then it’s extremely unlikely that you’ll be able to remember it and that dream will basically be lost forever.
However there is a really simple and easy way to make sure that you remember all of your dreams so that you can revisit them at any time you like… and that is of course by keeping a dream journals.
Plus not only will keeping a dream journal dramatically help you with your dream recall (ability to remember dreams) but it’s they are also an EXTREMELY powerful tool for inducing lucid dreaming and in the short video below I’ll show you exactly why!
6 Tips For Keeping An Awesome Dream Journal…
Your dream journal doesn’t have to be a masterpiece or neatly written or anything like that. In fact my dream journal is often messy as hell. But there are a few things that you should be doing when keeping a dream journal to make them more useful and here’s what they are…
Tip #1: Get A Nice Writing Journal.
The very first thing that you should do is purchase a nice writing journal that you like the look of and that’s nice to hold. It doesn’t have to be super expensive or anything like that (mine cost around $9 on eBay) but it is important that you get something that you will look forward to writing in since you’ll be writing entries in it quite often. Some good places to pick up cheap but awesome writing journals include eBay, Amazon and Etsy.
Tip #2: Write In Your Dream Journal As SOON As You Wake Up.
Keep your dream journal right by your bed and get into the habit of writing in it every single time that you wake up from a dream and have a few moments to write it down. Dreams can be forgotten surprisingly quickly so it’s important that you write down your dreams as soon as you can before you go to do other things and forget them altogether.
Tip #3: Add A Title And Date To Each Dream.
By adding a relevant title to every dream along with a date it’ll make it a lot easier for you to flip back through your dream diary at a later point and to find a particular dream.
Tip #4: Write Your Dream Entries In The Present Tense.
By writing your dreams in the present tense as opposed to the past tense it will help to put you in the moment and will help with your dream recall. For example instead of writing ‘I just flew through the sky’ write something like ‘I am flying through the sky’.
Tip #5: Spelling, Punctuation And Grammar Aren’t Important.
The most important thing is that you get your dream down on paper before you forget it. Spelling, punctuation and grammar however are not nearly as important so don’t get too hung up on them. So long as you can still read your entries you’re fine!
Tip #6: Add Sketches To Your Entries.
Adding sketches and drawings of dream characters, signs or landscapes to your dream diary is a must. And it doesn’t matter if you are a poor drawer (believe me I am not Picasso either!). Simply to rough sketches and drawings and you’ll be amazed and how much easier it makes As the old saying goes ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ and it’s so true with dream diaries because one simple sketch or drawing can instantly bring back vivid memories of what would otherwise be a long lost dream.
How To Use Your Dream Journal To Induce Lucid Dreaming…
The best thing about dream journals is that you can use them to induce lucid dreaming.
To this simply read back through your journal after you have made a good number of entries and look for re-occurring signs and dream symbols.
Then make an active note to look out for these specific dream symbols in the future and when you see one in a dream perform a reality check because when you do there’s a very good chance that you’ll become lucid!
